ARRL DX SSB Contest

I briefly took the mobile “shack” out Sunday evening to catch the tail end of the ARRL DX SSB contest from a local park. I’ve never heard the bands so full before! The only downside was that I forgot my antenna’s center support, so I wound up with a dipole 5 feet off the ground. It could hear well, but wasn’t much better than NVIS for transmitting.

I worked 7 stations in an hour and a half. Couldn’t break through any other pileups. All of them were South America and the Caribbean, and all were new DXCC entities to me, so not all is lost 🙂

73!
